The Kea Section opens the door for young people to discover the world.

Fun and friendship are the cornerstones of the Kea programme. It is filled with a little bit of everything: outdoor activities, games, music, and crafts. Along the way, Kea meet new friends, learn cooperation and teamwork, and develop self-confidence.

Kea Clubs provide safe and nurturing environments for children to have fun and develop their creativity.

As a Kea you will:

  • Have lots of fun and go on awesome adventures
  • Play heaps of games and make lots of friends
  • Learn the Kea Promise and Motto
  • Learn to sing the Kea Song and Kea Yell

Term 2 Keas programme

Keas Term 2 Week 1 – Making things move

30 April @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Forces are the hidden power behind everything that happens in our world - and beyond. This meet will delve into the science of moving things and explore the different kinds of motion. We'll then put this into practice building, and launching from, mini catapults!

Keas Term 2 Week 2 – Magic potions

7 May @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Chemistry is all about figuring out the secrets of the universe by looking at tiny building blocks and their behaviour. This meet will be packed with hands-on activities that explore fascinating and visually impressive chemical reactions using common household ingredients. Keas will discover the secrets of matter and energy by making our very own magic potions - from floating raisins to elephant's toothpaste!

Keas Term 2 Week 3 – Forts!

14 May @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Building forts is an exciting and imaginative activity. This meet will unleash our Keas creativity as they design and construct their secret spaces using a range of materials letting their imaginations soar. It's a chance to work together, negotiate ideas, and create something special.

Earth science is our grand adventure to understanding the dynamic planet we live in. In this meet, we'll be experimenting to make our own clouds, tornadoes, rain and magical rainbows to understand how weather patterns form.

Keas Term 2 Week 5 – Night hike

28 May @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Grab your backpack and put on those sturdy shoes - it's time for a kid-powered adventure! In this meet our Keas will be adventuring through nature's wonderland to Waterfall Gully located in Shakespear Regional Park to see the lights of the glow worms and experience the enchantment of nature firsthand.

This two-part topic will turn our Keas into curious young stargazers! In this meet we will explore the make up of our solar system before letting your creativity soar among the stars by making their own paper mache planet.

It's time to gaze upward, ponder the cosmos, and unravel the mysteries of the universe. In this meet, Keas will peer through a telescope, or as we like to call 'a cosmic spyglass', to see the universe unfold before their eyes. Keas will also have the opportunity to paint their paper mache planet surface.

Keas Term 2 Week 8 – Density

18 June @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Liquid density helps us predict how substances will behave when mixed, layered, or heated. In this meet, Keas will explore some fun liquid density experiments to understand how different liquids behave based on their density. This will include making their very own lava lamp!

Electricity is like a secret code that makes our world bright and exciting. In this meet, Keas will let their curiosity spark as they learn about the fascinating world of electricity, circuits, and energy in a hands-on way.

Keas Term 2 Week 10 – Ten-pin bowling

2 July @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

We wrap up the term with a night of ten-pin bowling and a chance to revisit many of the scientific concepts covered in this term's programme while aiming for the perfect strike!
